Introducing: Isaiah Austin Rodriguez Dibbles

Isaiah was born on February 17th, 2015 at 12:50pm. He weighed in at a hefty 9 lbs 3 oz and 20.75 inches long (thankfully smaller than Jordan’s 10 lbs 12 oz and 22 inches). We decided to have a cesarean section because of the potential large weight concerns. Thankfully, the c-section turned out fine. Both mommy and baby are healthy and are doing well.

Leading up to the surgery, Lacey and I were a bit more relaxed compared to Jordan’s birth. If you’re not familiar with the story of Jordan’s delivery, the tl;dr version: we went from laboring naturally at a birthing center to having an emergency cesarean 16 hours later. It was a devastating day on many levels. We ended up with bills from both the birthing center and the hospital, and Lacey ended up taking drugs and having a c-section – two things she was praying against. In the end, both Jordan and mommy were healthy.

We were wanting to try a VBAC with Isaiah, but there were concerns regarding his potential weight. We went back and forth on what to do until this past weekend. It wasn’t our ideal scenario, but we both felt that having a scheduled c-section in a controlled environment provided the least amount of risks. We were glad that everything turned out fine. Lacey’s internal scarring was minimal and the doctor told her that there should be no complications if we wanted to have more children (which we do). The surgeon did a great job and Lacey’s swelling isn’t nearly as bad; she’s already walking around a bit. Isaiah is just as well mannered as Jordan was when he was born – he only fusses slightly when he’s hungry or in need of swaddling.

Indeed, God’s favor was again upon us, for any concern we had did not come into fruition and we’ll be heading home as a foursome in a matter of days. I’m looking forward to what is in store for our family, and am even more ready to lead us into what God has in store for us.
